Welcome back Crusaders. Let’s get straight into it today.
Every time you add a unit to your Order of Battle the details of the unit must be recorded on a Crusade Card. These are handy references to utilise in the pre and post game. They keep track of your units deeds as well as their failings.
One of the key elements of the Crusade card is Experience Points so we will have a quick look at that before we dive into the card itself.
When you add your unit to the order of battle it will be inserted with 0XP but can gain experience in a number of different ways as you play your crusade games.
- Battle Experience – 1XP – being used in a Crusade game.
- Dealers of Death – 1XP – every 3 units they have destroyed. (Which can span across games)
- Marked for Greatness – 3XP – after a battle you can select 1 unit that was used and award it this bonus (Usually for an outstanding performance or sheer stubbornness to die)
- Other – Varied XP depending on the mission or other possible inputs detailed in rules.
Now experience is fantastic because it allows us to climb the ranks with our units and gain battle honours (more on that tomorrow). What is important though is that some units are unable to ever gain XP these are Epic Heroes, Fortifications, Swarms and Summoned units.
So what does a Crusade Card look like you ask?… ask no more.

Everything here is more than self explanatory with the Ranking on the side of the card to indicate where their experience takes them to and a space at the bottom to record Battle Honours (Bonuses) and Battle Scars (Negatives).
Below is an example Crusade Card completed for the mighty Canoness of the Order of the Gilded Lily.

Clearly she’s got a very shiny sword….but also a bit of a limp.
And that draws a close to our second post Crusaders, If you have any questions about the Crusade cards feel free to comment below and I’ll do my best to clarify. I’ll be back again tomorrow to have a look at Ranks, Battle Honours and Battle Scars.
